The raised seating area is served by six delay arrays, each composed of six Mini-COM.P.A.S.S. elements and two C.D.L. 1815 cardioid “Low Packs”, connected via a custom-built spreader bar to suspend the subwoofers directly behind the full-range arrays. This arrangement permitted the most consistent alignment between components and minimized sightline obstructions, while extending full-range impact to the most distant seats.

Powersoft K-Series Amplifiers provided power to the entire system. Anticipated saving in A.C. power and cooling required for the system will be substantial

Haze Nightclub is a dramatic 25,500-square-foot cutting-edge space where guests are challenged to question their sense of perception and reality.
Designed and installed by John Lyons, HAZE is the first system in the world to utilize the new US221, dual 21” subwoofer from Fulcrum Acoustic. During the design process, John tasked Dave Gunness to design a subwoofer the would “Crush” everywhere on the dance floor. After hearing the system, John noted that the US221 exceeded “Crush” and established and new benchmark - “Punish”
At the recent INFOCOMM Fulcrum treated 85 guests to a technical tour and demonstration of the nightclub’s 16 zone audio system as well as its LED wall and lighting system.
The nightclub’s complex audio system, filled with over 100 Fulcrum Acoustic loudspeakers including (10) US221’s (a total of (20) 21” drivers) housed in a concrete soffit under the DJ Booth. The entire dance floor system is time aligned to the center of the dance floor.
As the demo ramped up reaching “crush” levels of 130+ dB SPL still having an additional 10+ dB of headroom available to reach “punish”, Listener comments included that the impact of the subs “blurred my vision” and “everytime the kick drum hit and as I was breathing in, the subs forced air down my throat”. Even at the excessive “club” levels, the entire system “delivered pristine detail and extremely musical sound.”

In addition, new format Spec sheets includes a plethora of graphical data – including unprocessed response, processed response, processed phase response, impedance, horizontal and vertical off axis response, beamwidth, directivity index (Di), and horizontal and vertical polars. Rather than simply adding graphical data to the spec sheets, Dave, Rich and the crew first assembled the entire family of products and carefully tweaked the voicings to be as consistent as possible across the entire line. Then each model was remeasured to get the final spec sheet graph.

The UC Santa Barbara Events Center, a 5,600-seat, indoor multi-purpose stadium also known as The Thunderdome, recently upgraded its sound system to meet the increased audio demands of sporting and entertainment events. Because of the installation’s physical and electrical restrictions, Acoustic Dimensions, the designer for the project, chose Powersoft amplifiers to drive the speakers for the new system, drawing on Powersoft’s inherent design efficiencies to solve these types of challenges.

“The hurdles the UC Santa Barbara Events Center installation presented was three fold regarding power amplifiers and these barriers were overcome byemploying Powersoft,” says Vance Breshears, LEED accredited design consultant for Acoustic Dimensions and veteran of over 500 installations worldwide. “We were dealing with a very limited pre-existing rack space for the installation, yet still had to provide the wattage necessary to do the job. The
amplifier room was passively vented and not AC cooled, so amplifier heat generation was a big consideration. Also, the electric service to the amp room was limited, so current draw was a factor. We suggested Powersoft as the
amplifier that could meet the restricted requirements, while still providing more than adequate wattage and the professional sound quality for the system. UC Santa Barbara agreed with our recommendation and the results were stunning.”“The efficiency of Powersoft products was pivotal for the Events Center installation,” Breshears continues. “Powersoft amps have significant advantages in a variety of aspects over traditional designed amplifiers. If you look at power consumption over a long period of time there will be substantial savings. They also generate less heat and require less cooling than other amplifiers and this also generates a substantial savings. And, because they have a smaller footprint, they use up less rack space. Finally, they draw less current for the same power output, so all these elements fit the bill perfectly for the UC Santa Barbara Events Center.”

SQ MUSIC SERIES. Spanning an eclectic mix of genres, this Summer Concert Series attracts a diverse audience who find Madison Square Park the perfect venue for music and picnics under the stars. NYC Parks and Recreation tapped SIA ACOUSTICS to supply the sound. SIA designers Steve Sockey and Adam Schulman choose Outline Loudspeakers and Powersoft Amplification. I was stunned at the detail and imaging of the system throughout the 6 acre. Since its rededication in 2001 this park is once again one of the most enjoyable parks in Manhattan. Madison Square park is bordered by 5th and Madison Avenues and 23rd and 26th Streets. A spacious dog run, colorful playground, and large grassy area make for an ideal a escape from Manhattan’s midtown buzz.
